Winston is a handsome 47-pound boy with a unique blend of breeds – 37% Mountain Cur, 21% Boxer, 21% Labrador Retriever, 12% German Shepherd, and 9% Collie. He's been patiently waiting in foster care for over two years, and his foster parents can't understand why this incredible companion hasn't found his forever home yet. Winston is adaptable and resilient, as he's recently settled into a new foster home with ease. He has magnificent ears, a perfectly curled tail, and soulful eyes that are sure to capture your heart. Winston is house-trained and crate-trained, patiently waiting while you're away and greeting you with helicopter tail wags upon your return. He knows "sit" and "down," but he's a bit of a comfort king – he only performs these commands on a soft surface!
Ideal Home
Winston would love a canine sibling to play with, snuggle with, and keep him company. He needs a securely fenced yard where he can safely gallop and explore due to his love for adventure and interest in critters. He has not been around cats and would not be a good fit for a home with feline companions. He has also not lived with small children and would likely do best in a home with older children due to his activity level.
Ongoing Health
Winston earned an "A++" behavior report from the veterinary team at his yearly check-up.
Training & Support
Winston is very alert and keenly aware of his surroundings. He enjoys daily walks and car rides. After exploring, he loves to snuggle and will happily curl up on the couch or sleep in bed with his humans. He bonds deeply with his people and will alert you to strangers. Like many dogs, he benefits from proper introductions to house guests and does best when given a moment to assess the situation. As part of his adoption agreement, you'll be required to attend a minimum of one group basic obedience course within 4 months of adoption.
