Dewey is your ultimate adventure buddy with a surprisingly snuggly side! This handsome Carolina Dog mix, around 2 years old and weighing 45-50 pounds, is ready to explore the great outdoors with you in the morning and then expertly melt into your lap for coffee time. Dewey is a smart cookie who loves a good mental workout, whether it's a game of hide-and-seek, a treat-finding challenge, or tackling a homemade puzzle toy. His favorite activity is sniffing everything in sight, from the yard to the deepest woods during a hike. If there's snow, even better – Dewey will joyfully bound through it, burying his face in snowbanks just for fun! He's got a playful, goofy spirit and has proudly adopted a squeaky ball as his prized possession, enjoying a good game of tug. He also loves to keep busy with collagen rolls and sturdy chews.
Ideal Home
Dewey thrives with structure and a calm, predictable routine. He's a big fan of morning snuggles and enjoys relaxing on his designated mat. Because Dewey can be leash reactive towards passing dogs, people, and bicycles, he would do best in a home without young children. An experienced adopter who can continue his positive reinforcement training and mindful threshold management is essential. A yard for sniffing and enrichment would be a wonderful bonus!
Ongoing Health
Dewey is a healthy boy with no specific health conditions mentioned.
Training & Support
Dewey is crate trained, waits patiently at the door before walks, and follows a routine beautifully. His foster has been diligently working with his leash reactivity, and he is showing great improvement. A confident, dog-savvy adopter committed to continuing positive reinforcement training and mindful threshold management will help him continue to grow into an incredibly steady and devoted companion. He is highly intelligent and food-motivated, which will be great assets in his training journey.
