ESSEX

Essex is a handsome 5-year-old, 10-pound boy who is as close to a Cockapoo as they come, confirmed by his DNA! He's a spirited pup who loves to amuse himself for hours with his toys and enjoys racing around the yard. Essex can be a bit of a bossy boy when it comes to other dogs, so he'd do best as the only dog or with a very laid-back canine companion. He walks well on a leash and is mostly house-trained, though he does have a tendency to mark his territory on other dogs' beds, which is why an experienced owner who understands his alpha tendencies would be ideal. When he was rescued, Essex was severely matted and had to be shaved down to the skin, but his beautiful coat is now growing back wonderfully!

Ideal Home

Essex would be a great companion for an older individual or couple. He would do best as an only dog or with one laid-back companion dog. He is not suited for a home with children under the age of 8.

Ongoing Health

Essex's coat is growing back beautifully after being shaved due to severe matting. He is up-to-date on all vaccinations and monthly preventatives for heartworms, fleas, ticks, and parasites.

Training & Support

Essex is pretty well house-trained, but he does occasionally mark his territory on other dogs' beds. He is described as a precocious and alpha little dog, so an experienced owner who can provide consistent leadership will help him thrive.
