VOLTAIRE*

Voltaire is a handsome Lhasa Apso mix with a charming personality! He and his brother, Socrates, arrived at the shelter as strays. While they get along well and could be adopted together, they're also happy to find their own forever homes. Voltaire was quite matted upon arrival but received a wonderful full groom, thanks to a local pet salon. He was a good boy during his grooming session and now looks quite dapper!

Ideal Home

A home prepared for regular grooming sessions (every 8 weeks ideally) and consistent at-home brushing to keep his beautiful coat in top condition would be wonderful for Voltaire. He has shown politeness towards dogs his size and larger, so a home with other dogs could be a great fit! We don't have information on how he would do with children or cats.

Ongoing Health

Voltaire is a healthy pup who recently received a full groom. Adopters should be prepared for ongoing grooming needs.

Training & Support

Voltaire was well-behaved during his grooming session. All adopted dogs benefit from continued positive reinforcement training and socialization. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is offering "Pawsitivity Bucks," a $200 training voucher, with every dog adoption to help you and your new companion get started on the right paw with a positive reinforcement-based behavior consultant.

Transportation

Voltaire is located at our Santa Cruz location. Our Shelter hours are 11 am - 6 pm, 7 days a week. While you can see all animals in their kennels during open hours, "meet and greets" outside of kennels end at 4:30 pm daily. Please arrive before 4:00 pm to allow ample time to discuss and meet with any animal you are interested in.
