Butch is a charming 5-year-old Dachshund/Chihuahua mix who found himself in our care after being rescued from a difficult hoarding situation. He was part of a group of 16 dogs brought to us as winter approached, all of whom were suffering from fleas, worms, and a desperate need for affection and care. Butch has blossomed with attention and is ready to find his forever home! He's a very sweet boy who weighs around 11lbs and absolutely craves attention. He can be a bit shy at first and might need a little help with house training using a male diaper as he adjusts to a loving home environment, but he's eager to please and learn.
Ideal Home
Butch would thrive in a home where he can receive plenty of one-on-one attention. He would be perfectly content as an only dog or with canine companions, as he does well with other dogs, though it may take him some time to adjust to new friends. He is not a good fit for homes with cats. A securely fenced yard is required for Butch's safety and happiness; wireless or underground invisible fences are not accepted.
Ongoing Health
Butch has been neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, and treated for fleas and ticks. He is also heartworm negative and has been microchipped.
Training & Support
Butch may need a little assistance with house training as he gets accustomed to being a cherished pet, and a male diaper might be helpful initially. He is doing well with other dogs but will need patience as he adjusts to new canine friendships.
