Buddy is a spirited, loyal 70-pound pit mix who has been patiently waiting for his forever family for quite some time. His journey has been full of near-misses. Buddy was first found as a stray, and while the good Samaritan who found him hoped to keep him, Buddy didn't get along with the resident dog, so he was brought to the shelter. Not long after, Buddy's original family recognized him from a shelter post. They even shared a sweet video of Buddy in their yard, happily popping bubbles with a young child, but despite this connection, they didn't come to bring him home. Since then, Buddy has remained hopeful, eager to find a family who sees him for the loyal and loving companion he is.
Ideal Home
Buddy would do best as the only pet in the home, where he can fully bond with his new family and shower them with loyalty and affection. An active household that enjoys walks, hikes, or even jogs would be an ideal match for him.
Ongoing Health
Buddy has been neutered.
Training & Support
Buddy has made huge strides in his training, graduating from the Puppies for Parole program. There, he worked on house training, crate training, basic commands, and leash skills. He also became muzzle-conditioned, which helped him gain confidence around other dogs in a controlled environment. When heading out on a leash, Buddy might pull at first, but he quickly settles into a relaxed, loose-leash pace. His tidy kennel habits hint at a natural habit for order and structure. Buddy's ideal family will appreciate his enthusiasm and enjoy staying active alongside him. A family that can continue his training, provide structure, and embrace his fun-loving spirit would be the perfect fit.
