Scout is a sweet, playful, and affectionate little male Rat Terrier, approximately 3-4 years old and weighing around 14 lbs. He's full of personality and loves to run, play, and cuddle with his people. Scout is very sociable and gets along well with other dogs, children, men, and women, making him a wonderful companion for many families. He was rescued after being attacked by larger dogs, but thankfully only sustained minor scratches and was very brave despite his fear. Scout has shown incredible resilience and a loving spirit, and he's now ready for a new chapter with a family who will cherish him.
Ideal Home
Scout would thrive in an active home with a fenced backyard. He's looking for a family with a genuine intention to rescue and a deep understanding of the needs of rescued animals. Experience with dog behavior and training is preferred, or a commitment to hiring a trainer to help this intelligent dog reach his full potential. Families must also have high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies.
Ongoing Health
Scout has undergone a comprehensive health protocol, including being spayed/neutered, vaccinated (DHPPI, Rabies, Bordetella), dewormed, and microchipped. He has also received a 4DX test and negative heartworm test, and is on monthly preventive protection for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. A health certificate and vaccination booklet are provided. It's important to understand that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period and patience to overcome past experiences.
Training & Support
Scout is not house-trained, which is common for rescued dogs. Prospective adopters should be prepared for this and understand that while he is fostered in Mexico, it's not possible to house-train every pet due to the sheer number of animals needing care. Patience and understanding are crucial for his adjustment period.
