Bullseye

Bullseye is a 6.5-month-old, male Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. His mom, Wanda, is approximately 55 pounds, and a photo of her is included. Bullseye was rescued with his littermates and mother from a rural dumping area outside of Houston. He is described as the strong, silent type, often taking things in quietly before joining in for cuddles or play. He loves dinnertime, belly rubs, and snuggling. Bullseye is gentle, thoughtful, and possesses a calm presence, making him a loyal companion with a soft heart and an easygoing personality. He enjoys playing and wrestling with his siblings and is adapting well to settling into a companion role. He is potty trained, but a few accidents may occur as he adjusts to a new home. Bullseye is both playful and reserved, preferring to observe before joining in activities, but he's happy to engage when ready. He has been raised with other dogs and children and has done well with both, though he has not yet been tested with cats. He is crate-trained and is gaining confidence with leash walking and basic obedience.

Ideal Home

Bullseye is looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building his confidence, and helping him mature. He would thrive with a canine role model and we prefer homes that already have another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor him. If a home does not have another dog, we would like to hear your plan for continued socialization. We also prefer homes where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time, as he will benefit from regular potty breaks, exercise, enrichment, training, and interaction.

Training & Support

Bullseye is potty trained but may have occasional accidents as he adjusts to a new routine. He is continuing to build confidence with leash walking and basic obedience. Continued socialization with new people, places, sounds, and friendly dogs is important for building his lifelong confidence.

• Transports run every few weeks and approved dogs will be on the next available transport.
• If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time.
• We are a volunteer-run rescue and ask that you are serious about moving forward in our adoption process.
• If someone other than yourself is part of the decision-making process, please ensure they are on board before applying.
• Our process starts with an application. If you appear to be a good fit, we will contact you to schedule a phone interview.
• This is followed by a video call with the foster home.
• Virtual home visits, personal, and vet reference checks are required to complete the process.

Transportation

Bullseye is currently located in Houston, Texas. He can be transported to an approved adopter arranged by the rescue. Transport is included in the adoption donation.
