Meet Chanel, a resilient 3 to 4-year-old terrier mix who survived a heartbreaking start after being abandoned in a crowded New Mexico shelter, where she sat on a euthanasia list, terrified and completely shut down. She has beautifully blossomed into an energetic, happy dog who even donates blood to save other lives in need. While her transformation is incredible, she isn't perfect yet; Chanel is still searching for a patient family and a canine companion in a home to help her rebuild her faith in humanity and learn to trust again. She enjoys being around toys and balls, particularly soft squeakers, though she gets easily startled if they are too loud and is still figuring out how to actually play with them. She is also still working through her past trauma and can be quite flinchy when hands reach toward her.
Ideal Home
Chanel needs a gentle, understanding environment where she can take things at her own pace and finally discover what it feels like to be truly safe. She would thrive with a patient family and would benefit from living with another canine companion.
Ongoing Health
Chanel is up-to-date on all vetting, including DAPP, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, flea prevention, heartworm testing and prevention, and micro-chipping.
Training & Support
Chanel is still working through her past trauma and can be quite flinchy when hands reach toward her. She will need continued training efforts and understanding from her new family to help her become the best dog she can be.

- For those being picked up at our Angleton, Tx location, there is a $75 fee which includes all vetting.
- The adoption and transportation fee ranges from $100-500. Private custom transport routes and destinations are available upon request with financial responsibility on the adopted family. Texas Adopters have a $250 flat rate fee for transporting within the state!
Transportation
Chanel is available for transportation in VA, PA, CT, VT, NY, UT, ID, OR, TX, WA, TN, KY, IN, IL, WI, MN & OH, LA. Arizona is coming soon! Transport is provided via air-conditioned buses or vans equipped with attendants providing 24-hour care. You will be able to follow along on their journey through a private Facebook Event page, where you will see photos, have the opportunity to connect with other adopters, and receive updates and constant communication along the way. Our Adoption Coordinator will help to find the closest transport pick-up location to you.
