Buddy is a friendly, 4.5-year-old Doodle, a delightful mix of Border Collie and Standard Poodle. He was originally brought home by his family before they had children. While Buddy is a sweetheart, he has become a bit anxious with a toddler in the house and hasn't adjusted as well as hoped. His family dedicated significant effort to help him, including a 4-week board and train program with a professional trainer. Buddy excelled in his training, mastering house manners, leash walking, crate training, and the 'place' command. Despite these successes, he remained uncomfortable around young children, leading his family to make the difficult decision to find him a new home where he can truly thrive. Buddy's training utilized balanced methods, including an e-collar for off-leash reliability. He enjoys doggy daycare but can exhibit resource guarding of food and certain toys around other dogs. While he generally gets along with his canine friends, we believe Buddy would be happiest as the sole dog in his new home. He has no prior experience with cats. Buddy is currently in a loving foster home with a balanced trainer and is doing wonderfully.
Ideal Home
Buddy would thrive in a home without young children, where he can feel secure and comfortable. We believe he would be happiest as an only dog, given his resource guarding tendencies with other canines.
Ongoing Health
Buddy is neutered, up-to-date on core vaccinations (DPPV, Bordetella), and microchipped. He recently had a health check with a veterinarian.
Training & Support
Buddy has excellent house and leash manners and is crate trained. He knows the 'place' command. He has shown some resource guarding around food and select toys when other dogs are present. While he enjoys the company of other dogs, he would likely do best as an only pet.

Buddy is currently in foster care in Bothell, WA. Transportation can be discussed for approved adopters.
