Leon is a handsome and loving boy who is approximately 1 year old and weighs around 30 lbs. He's a mix of Labrador and Creole, and was rescued in March 2024 with his siblings. Leon is an intelligent, obedient, and playful companion who thrives on affection. He's sociable with humans, children, and other dogs, enjoying walks, runs, and playtime. While he can be a little shy when first meeting new people, he quickly warms up and melts into your arms. He's also friendly with cats. Leon is crate and leash trained, and is a truly joyful and funny dog.
Ideal Home
Leon would do best in a home with owners who have a fenced backyard and are active, enjoying outdoor activities. Families with an open mind about the needs of rescued animals, and who have experience with dog behavior and training, will be a great fit. Patience and high tolerance are key, as rescued dogs often require extra understanding.
Ongoing Health
Leon has completed a comprehensive health protocol, including being spayed/neutered, vaccinated (DHPPI, Rabies, Bordetella), dewormed, and microchipped. He has also tested negative for heartworm and has a negative 4DX test. He is currently on monthly Nexgard Spectra for flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. A health certificate and vaccination booklet are available. Please note that rescued dogs, including Leon, may not be fully house-trained.
Training & Support
Leon is crate and leash trained. As with many rescued animals, he is not yet house-trained, and adopters should be prepared for this. His rescuers emphasize that they cannot house-train every pet due to the sheer number of animals in foster care, and this will be a learning process for his new family.

- Following application review, a phone/email interview will be scheduled.
- A home check (virtual or in-person) will be conducted.
- A virtual meet-and-greet will be arranged with you, Leon, and his foster family.
- If all parties agree it's a good fit, an adoption contract will be provided, which may include a trial adoption period.
Transportation
Leon is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico. He is available for transport to the East Coast of the United States on our next cross-country trip. The transport fee is $400.00 and is the responsibility of the adopter, to be paid prior to departure. Transport will deliver directly to the adopter's home address.
