About Addie
Addie is a 4.5-year-old, spayed female pitbull terrier mix weighing 45 pounds. She was rescued from the streets of a Houston neighborhood known for being a dumping ground for unwanted pets. When found, she was nearly hairless from mange, severely underweight, and had experienced a lifetime of struggle and raising litters. Now, Addie is a willing and promising pupil, learning what it means to be a loved house dog and embracing her new lease on life. She is crate-trained, sleeps soundly in her kennel, and has even been trusted to sleep loose without issue. While she may have occasional accidents as she settles into a new routine, she is quickly perfecting her house skills. Addie is timid at first, but once she trusts you, she is overflowing with love. She is a true survivor who has proven the resilience of dogs, no matter life's hardships or unkindness.
Ideal Home
Addie would thrive in a home with a yard for her to roam and run in, and would love a male dog sibling to cuddle up and sleep next to. She is in her "Soft Life Era" and dreams of couches aplenty. Given her history, homes with children should be prepared to help them understand and respect animal behavior cues, with supervised interactions always recommended until everyone is well accustomed to each other. While she may do well around younger children, she might prefer older, calmer pre-teens and teenagers. Addie requires approximately 20-30 minutes of walkies twice a day.
Ongoing Health
Addie was treated for mange and has recovered. She is a hungry girl and will try to eat other pets' food, so feeding her separately is recommended.
Training & Support
Addie is crate-trained and sleeps well in her kennel. She is still perfecting her house skills and may have occasional accidents. She is not very playful with other dogs, preferring male companions of equal or larger size, and is curious but not yet successful in finding a female dog friend. She has not shown aggression around food or other resources.
