Rufus has the kindest eyes that just make you want to scoop him up and tell him everything is going to be okay! This 2-year-old, 15 lb (and still gaining!) neutered Yorkie/Lhasa Apso mix has a way of looking up at you like you're the most important person in the world. He’s currently underweight, but we expect him to reach a healthy 18-20 lbs soon. Rufus was abandoned at an apartment complex and left to fend for himself for several days before a kind person stepped in and got him to safety. Despite his rough start, Rufus is incredibly sweet, trusting, and eager to shower his new family with love. He's the definition of a Velcro dog – his favorite place is right by your side, whether that's on the couch, following you from room to room, or snuggled in your lap. He's affectionate, gentle, and has a happy, easygoing nature that makes him an absolute joy.
Ideal Home
Rufus is looking for a true companion who wants a loyal sidekick, a couch buddy, a walking partner, and a dog who will love them with his whole heart. He has been through a lot in his short life and deserves a family who will never leave him behind again.
Ongoing Health
Rufus is a Yorkie/Lhasa Apso mix and will likely require regular grooming to keep his coat healthy and prevent matting.
Training & Support
Rufus is crate trained and settles quietly. Like many young dogs, he can still be a bit playful with gentle nibbles. He is still working on house training, but we suspect this will improve with a consistent routine and after being neutered.

Transporation
Rufus is currently being fostered in Austin, Texas and is available for adoption out of state. Transport can be arranged by the rescue once matched with an approved adopter and is included in the adoption donation.
