Ernie

Ernie is a 8-year-old, 63lb Pittie/Cattle Dog mix with a heart of gold. He was found as a stray and, despite being microchipped, his previous owner did not want him back. Ernie is a true gem who is ready to find his forever family. He's a chill and goofy guy who gets excited for walks and playdates. Ernie has a knack for making friends, both human and canine, and loves to be included in everything. He's a gentle soul who will go with the flow and is known to let his smaller foster siblings boss him around. While he hasn't formally met a cat, his interest seems playful rather than aggressive, suggesting he could adapt well to feline companions. Ernie hasn't been around children, but his gentle nature leads his foster mom to believe he'd be a wonderful addition to a family with kids, provided they understand he's a bigger dog.

Ideal Home

Ernie would thrive in a home where he can be part of the family and included in activities. He's adaptable and would do well with kids, other pets, an older couple, or even first-time dog owners.

Ernie is heartworm negative.

Training & Support

Ernie is house-trained and walks well on a leash. He does not enjoy crates and will attempt to escape. While he can be vocal when crated and left alone, he calms down with treats or verbal commands, and he is not destructive when left unsupervised.

Transporation

Ernie is currently in a foster home in Houston, TX. He can be transported out of state once an approved adopter is found. Transports run every few weeks.
