Maverick Muffin - Local Guy

Maverick Muffin is a sweet and playful 2-year-old Black Lab mix, weighing around 60 pounds. He was found as a stray in Mississippi and is now eagerly awaiting his forever family. Maverick is a gentle soul who absolutely adores playing fetch and chasing soccer balls – they are his life! He's been a wonderful companion to his foster dog sibling and has made friends with every dog he's met, so he would thrive with another canine companion or frequent visits with friendly pups. He's also a whiz at catching treats, especially when they're tossed! Maverick is fully crate trained, house trained, and walks beautifully on a leash.

While he may be a little shy at first, Maverick blossoms into pure joy once he feels comfortable. He loves leaning in for ear scratches, makes his humans laugh with his silly antics, and enjoys settling down with a chew toy or a stuffed Kong in the evenings. His foster family noted that he is gentle and attentive with dog-savvy children who understand how to read his cues and give him space when he's feeling nervous. He's not the best fit for very young children.

Ideal Home

Maverick's perfect adopter will have a soft spot for sensitive dogs and enjoy watching them gain confidence. They'll understand the importance of letting him adjust to new environments, people, and routines at his own pace, without any pressure. He's happy to have adopters who work outside the home.

Ongoing Health

Maverick had surgery for a luxating patella on May 6, 2026, and is healing wonderfully. He's excited to get back to his playful self! All dogs are up-to-date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption.

Training & Support

Maverick would benefit from an adopter committed to continuing his training. It's important to remember that for Maverick, chasing a ball can be even more rewarding than getting a treat! All dogs require professional training to become the best family members they can be.
