Derek

Derek is a 9-month-old Australian Shepherd mix, weighing around 45 lbs, who may grow a little more. He's a sweet boy who came to us from a small rural shelter. Derek is a typical velcro Aussie who absolutely thrives on attention and scritches from his humans! He also adores playing with other dogs. He is deaf, and while this means he needs a little extra guidance, the love, loyalty, and companionship he offers are incredibly rewarding.

Ideal Home

Derek needs a securely fenced-in yard, as this is non-negotiable for his safety. A canine playmate would be wonderful for him, as he loves to play with other dogs. His ideal human will have the time and patience to work with him on hand signals, which will help him understand how to please you. As an energetic Aussie, he needs plenty of opportunities to run and play.

Derek is deaf, which requires special considerations for his care.

Training & Support

Derek is currently learning house training and is making great progress, though he can sometimes have excited accidents. He needs a patient owner willing to work with him to learn hand signals for clear communication. His energy levels are high, and he benefits from consistent training and playtime.
