Chido

Chido is a charming boy with a big heart, coming all the way from the streets near Houston to find his forever home. Despite a difficult past, Chido's gentle nature shines through in his love for cats and his ability to make friends easily with both people and animals. He enjoys short walks, playtime with his toys, and plenty of naps. Chido is gentle with children and cats, and generally gets along well with dogs, though he is dog selective. He does best with canine companions who don't try to dominate him or jump all over him.

Ideal Home

Chido would thrive in a home where he can have a relaxed companion, as he suffers from separation anxiety. He would do best with someone who works from home or is retired. Chido is an indoor companion and not an outside dog. He is frightened by loud noises such as thunder, lightning, and fireworks, and will need comforting during these times.

Ongoing Health

Chido is heartworm positive and is currently on slow-kill medication (Heartgard), a low-cost monthly pill. He should be tested annually to monitor his heartworm status. Chido also experiences occasional hip arthritis, which can make it difficult for him to move initially. This has only happened twice since he's been in foster care, and a hip massage and rest usually helps. X-rays show inflammation but no broken bones. Aside from these conditions, Chido is a healthy and loving companion.

Training & Support

Chido walks well on a leash, knows basic commands, and is potty trained. His separation anxiety will require patience and understanding in his new home.
