Tanker

Tanker is a huge, gorgeous, and incredibly sweet dog with a wonderful temperament. He was a beloved indoor pet for the first few years of his life, getting along wonderfully with everyone, including a member of the family with Down Syndrome. He thought he was a lap dog and loved snuggling on beds and couches. Sadly, his family had to surrender him when his owner was injured while walking him down the stairs, as she didn't have the physical strength to manage him. Tanker, a big boy with no idea of his own strength, accidentally pulled her, resulting in broken bones. Due to his previous owner's job, she couldn't care for Tanker alone. The whole family was heartbroken to say goodbye to their sweet Tanker, who is still confused about why he lost his loving home. This boy is a mega sweet winner who deserves so much more than a kennel!

Ideal Home

Tanker needs a home with a strong owner who has the know-how to safely walk a powerful dog. A very large, fenced-in yard is essential for him to play and expend energy. Homes with stairs are not suitable for Tanker.

Ongoing Health

Tanker is a healthy boy.

Training & Support

Tanker currently has a habit of jumping up to give hugs as a way to express affection, especially given his recent loss. We are working on teaching him to stop this behavior, but it stems from his desire to connect. Patience and consistent positive reinforcement will help him adjust.
