Hello, I’m Jax! I’m a 2-year-old unique guy with a special story. After a tough start as a puppy, I received wonderful care from my foster family and I’m all healed up now! You might notice a little quirk when I close my jaw quickly – it sounds like a guppy! I spend my days exploring, sometimes pretending to be a turtle on my back, sometimes a guppy, and always a dog who loves to play. I’m a smart cookie and have aced all my training classes, earning the title of distinguished gentleman. I have a fancy way of lounging, often stretching with my arms crossed, just like I’m chilling on the couch!
Ideal Home
My perfect home would include a canine sibling my size to play with. I’ve lived with smaller dogs, but I get bored and prefer wrestling with a friend who can keep up! “Outside” is my favorite word, and I’d love to spend hours playing in a yard with you. I’m happy to follow you inside if you go in, as I just love hanging out with my people. I also enjoy cuddling with older kids. I’m a big fan of pools, whether it’s a doggy pool or a larger one, and a fenced yard would be wonderful for chasing squirrels and bunnies!
Ongoing Health
I am all healed from a past injury and doing great!
Training & Support
I’m a well-behaved boy who thrives on routine. I communicate when I need something with a few barks, but I’m generally quiet if my day is predictable. I sleep soundly in my kennel overnight and might give a small whimper in the morning to let you know I’m ready to start the day. I sometimes hide my food for later but I’m learning to eat it all as I feel more secure. I do love paper towels, so supervision and keeping the garbage out of reach is helpful. I have plenty of energy and do best with lots of outdoor play; being kenneled for 8 hours straight without exercise isn’t ideal. I also enjoy car rides and stick my head out the window to feel the wind in my jowls! I can be a bit shy at first, but with patience and a consistent routine, I quickly become a loving best friend who leans on you for scratches and loves a good hug.
