Mavis

Mavis is a 2-year-old, spayed female Shepherd mix weighing 55 pounds. She is a gentle, easygoing sweetheart who’s ready to bring calm, love, and quiet joy into your home. Mavis started showing up at an elementary school, and a kind teacher began feeding her. After months of effort, a group of people came together to help Mavis find a foster home, where she has been thriving ever since!

Ideal Home

Mavis is a calm companion who enjoys daily walks and relaxing by your side. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs of all sizes and thrives in a social environment. She walks politely on a leash and is easily redirected. Mavis is house-trained, crate-trained, and does well when left alone. She has also been wonderful with children, including an 8-year-old. Due to her interest in squirrels, a cat-free home would likely be the best fit for Mavis.

Training & Support

Mavis is a smart girl who knows how to sit and is eager to learn more. She is not particularly interested in toys but loves treats and will happily show off her skills. She may startle if approached suddenly from behind, so a calm, predictable environment will help her feel her best.

Mavis is currently in a foster home in Houston, Texas. Transport is included in the adoption donation and is available once an adopter is matched.
