Meet Tornado, a patient and quiet pup looking for a dedicated home. Tornado is a survivor of a severe animal cruelty situation and is currently overwhelmed by the world. He is genuinely terrified of human interaction and does not yet understand that people can be safe. He is not a typical "ready-to-go" family pet; he will need an experienced adopter who wants to help a traumatized dog learn to trust.
Tornado does not seek out attention, cuddle, or play. When approached, his defense mechanism is to completely freeze. He will tolerate being held and touched simply because he shuts down from over-stress, but our team is currently taking things very slowly to get him used to the absolute basics of human touch.
Ideal Home
Tornado requires a quiet, low-traffic, adult-only home (or a home with mature teenagers ages 12 and up). He is a significant flight risk when panicked, so a secure routine and extreme handler awareness are non-negotiable.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned in the listing.
Training & Support
Tornado has a very long road ahead of him to decompress and learn how to be a dog. He is much more comfortable around his own species than humans. Once he is familiar with a companion, a completely different side of him emerges-he comfortably plays with small dogs he knows well, and will even happily play with toys in their company! He also quietly and politely co-exists off-leash with unfamiliar, low-energy dogs and shows a gentle curiosity about other larger pups in the yard.
