Kilo is a 5-year-old "land seal" who is pure fun and joy, and is looking for someone to adopt him! He is handsome, affectionate, and easygoing. Kilo enjoys a mellow pace with plenty of breaks to relax in the shade. He had a slow, easygoing start on his first outing, showing just how relaxed and observant he is. He loved lounging in the grass with a toy, taking in everything around him, and wasn’t bothered at all by cyclists, walkers, or joggers. When he was up and moving, he happily trotted along carrying a ball or stick, enjoying all the new smells. Kilo rides great in the car and happily jumps right in and settles in as a calm passenger. He knows how to sit nicely for treats and loves showing off his adorable double paw (both right and left!). He is very food-motivated, making him a great candidate for ongoing training and learning. Kilo is low energy and happiest lounging around with his toys. He is also in our selective playgroups and does great with female dogs. He does okay with some male dogs, so if your friends or family have another dog, make sure to do a slow introduction.
Ideal Home
Kilo would thrive in a home that appreciates his mellow pace and enjoys lounging around with him.
Ongoing Health
Kilo has inflammation on his paws, including pustules between his toes and redness, a condition called Pododermatitis. This condition can have multiple contributing causes, including allergies, skin infections, parasites, and underlying medical conditions. Kilo is also obese, which is a significant contributing factor to his pododermatitis. Excess body weight can increase pressure on the feet, alter normal posture and gait, and contribute to inflammation, decreased mobility, and difficulty keeping the paws clean and dry. Overweight dogs may also be more prone to secondary infections and delayed healing.
Training & Support
Kilo gets super excited on walks and may pull too hard. With some leash training and a good harness, he will be a wonderful walking companion. He is very food-motivated, making him a great candidate for ongoing training and learning.
