Blu

Blu is the cutest Golden Retriever/Shepherd mix, weighing around 65-70 lbs and is 2 years old. He has striking blue eyes and adorable ears that give him a perpetually surprised look. Blu is a sensitive and sweet boy who loves his people, both men and women alike, and adores his foster dad. While he may bark at new people initially, he quickly settles down once he feels they are safe. He is eager to please and wants to be a cherished part of his forever family. Blu is a champion of play, especially with his squeaky balls, which he can entertain himself with for hours (until they are de-squeaked, of course!). He also enjoys observing the world from the window and cooling off in a kiddie pool with his tennis balls on warm days.

Ideal Home

Blu would thrive in a home with a securely fenced yard, ideally over 6 feet tall, where he can safely expend his energy during his "zoomies." Because he can become assertive with other dogs, Blu seems to prefer being the only dog in the household. We do not recommend a home with cats or children under 12 years old. He would also love a family where someone is home more often than not, as he doesn't do well with long hours of alone time.

Ongoing Health

Blu is neutered, has tested negative for heartworm (and is on preventative medication), and is up-to-date on his distemper and rabies vaccinations. His microchip is registered.

Training & Support

Blu is housebroken and typically lets you know when he needs to go out by coming to you or pacing. He is good on a leash during daily walks and rides well in the car, though he can be a little hesitant of street noises. He occasionally jumps up when excited but responds well to a gentle "no." As he is still a bit puppyish, Blu needs his environment puppy-proofed by keeping shoes and other chewable items out of reach and off counters.
