Michelle is a 3-year-old, 48-pound spayed female Staffordshire Terrier mix who was rescued from euthanasia at a high-kill shelter. She is incredibly friendly, affectionate, and social, especially with other dogs, and loves to play and nap with her foster siblings. While she can sometimes get a little carried away during play due to her enthusiasm, she adjusts her behavior well and is never aggressive. Michelle has a good balance of energy for outdoor play and a mellow demeanor for lounging and snoozing inside, making her a happy and mellow house companion. She has also been sweet and loving with children ages 8 and up.
Ideal Home
Michelle would thrive in a home with another friendly dog and a family that can offer her love, structure, and playtime. She does tend to jump when excited, so a home with children 12+ or dog-savvy teens is recommended. Due to her tendency to chew and her ability to scale fences, a secure yard or consistent leash walks are a must. She would do well in an apartment or urban setting as long as she receives consistent exercise and enrichment.
Ongoing Health
Michelle is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Michelle is fully housebroken and crate trained. She is very food motivated and learns quickly, but she is still working on her manners. She can be a bit sneaky around food, so she is fed separately and benefits from guidance at snack time, responding well to redirection. She walks fairly well on leash but tends to pull, so continued leash training and structure will help her improve. She loves to chew, so supervision and crate time when unsupervised are important.
