Jason is a smart and fun-loving 64 lb companion who is eager to please and form a deep emotional connection with his person. He excels at training, quickly mastering new skills, and enjoys interactive play with other dogs. While he's generally good-natured, Jason can become reactive if another male dog attempts to dominate him, so he should be closely monitored during introductions to ensure compatibility. This athletic boy is a fantastic hiking partner, enjoying both on and off-leash adventures, and he's known to reliably check back in with his handler. Jason also loves car rides! A volunteer describes him as a dog who "looks up to me for direction and guidance" and "wants to do the right thing," noting he likely hasn't had much human companionship in his past. Continuing his leash and obedience training, along with providing plenty of exercise, will be richly rewarded with a loyal and wonderful friend.
Jason completed Dog School Training in October 2022 as a star student, impressing his trainer with his natural athletic ability, focus, and obedience. He's a "sports dog by nature" who thrives on challenges, loves playing with balls, and excels at agility. He's described as obedient, task-focused, affectionate, and possesses a protective instinct when shown love. Cortez Rescue recommends Jason for an experienced dog handler who can continue his training and support him as he navigates the world. He currently shares his foster home with a female pittie and knows basic commands like sit, down, off, wait, heel, and come, and has basic leash skills. He does not exhibit separation anxiety.
