Gio is a 78-pound black lab mix who is 4 years old and has perfected the art of the bear hug! This sweet, cuddly boy loves to wrap his front paws around you and will crawl into your lap once he knows you're a friend. Gio is a certified love bug who soaks up every bit of affection and is eager to be your new best friend.
Beyond cuddles, Gio has a playful side and loves walks and splashing in the water. He's getting more comfortable in the pool daily and will likely be a great swimmer with a little more practice. Gio is great in the car and up for an adventure, but he's just as happy to chill with his favorite humans.
Gio is a learner and is excelling in obedience classes and mastering leash walking. He's enthusiastic about meeting new friends, sometimes a little too much, but he's learning to manage his excitement. He can exhibit some food guarding, but he's making progress.
Gio lives with three older female dogs and is respectful of their boundaries. He gets along well with them and knows when to give them space. However, he doesn't get along with the male foster dog, so a home with female dogs or as the only dog would be ideal. He has not been cat-tested but could potentially be feline-friendly with proper introductions.
Gio is crate-trained and can chew when bored, but he's easily entertained with plenty of toys and activities. He comes with a few training sessions to ensure continued success.
If you're looking for a big-hearted pup who loves affection, enjoys adventures and cuddles, and is ready to be your loyal companion, Gio is your guy!
Ideal Home
A home with female dogs or as the only dog would be the best fit. Due to his size and energy, homes with children 10 years and over are recommended.
