Dot, also known as Koda (or Koda Nick, Koda Bear!), is a sweet 2-year-old female Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler/Chow Chow mix who weighs about 55 lbs. She's a snuggle bunny who absolutely loves to be around her people, and her favorite pastime is cuddling up with them. When she's not getting some quality snuggle time, you'll find her playing and running in the backyard, or having a blast in the water. She's house and crate trained, and even loves her crate for naps and settling down for the night! Koda walks great on a leash and knows commands like sit, down, and paw.
Ideal Home
Koda would thrive in a home with lots of exercise, playtime, and attention. A family who has the time to commit to her would be ideal, preferably with a backyard. She would love to have a medium to large-sized dog sibling to play with. She is not comfortable with small dogs or cats, so she would do best as the only pet or with a canine friend of the appropriate size. Koda also loves children and would be a great addition to a family with kids of all ages, especially if they enjoy cuddling and belly rubs! Since Koda doesn't like to be alone or ignored for long periods, a home where someone works from home or is only gone for short durations would be perfect.
Ongoing Health
Koda is spayed, up to date on all her vaccinations, and microchipped. She is also heartworm negative and on preventatives. She does require daily brushing to help manage shedding.
Training & Support
Koda is learning to be a bit less of a lap dog and is working on not being so vocal when she wants something. She's an "American Idol" in the making, and is learning to "sing" (vocalize) silently, so continued gentle guidance in this area would be beneficial. Due to past experiences, Koda has trust issues around mealtime and prefers to eat in her crate, but her foster family is slowly working on introducing her to others during meals. Bath time isn't her favorite, but it helps with her shedding!
