Rusty's story is one of heartbreak, but even more so, it's a testament to his resilience and capacity for pure love. Rescued in late February 2026, he was found in a devastating state, suffering from a broken leg, deep wounds, bite marks, infection, and trauma from an embedded collar, indicating a history of abuse. Despite these unimaginable challenges, Rusty's spirit remained unbroken. With immediate veterinary care, pain management, and abundant love, he has embarked on a remarkable healing journey, revealing himself to be one of the happiest and most affectionate dogs you could ever meet.
Rusty is an approximately 1-year-old, unknown mix who is neutered, fully vetted, up-to-date on vaccines, and microchipped. He is dog-friendly and gets along wonderfully with everyone at the rescue, showing no signs of aggression. Rusty loves to play, make friends, and soak up affection. He is still recovering from a leg injury; he is walking on it and sometimes hops, but he is improving daily. His scars are a reminder of his past, and the area where his collar was embedded will not regrow hair, but these do not diminish his beautiful spirit.
