Meet the breeder
Meet West Lake Corgis. Roberta Henderson is from Massachusetts and breeds Pembroke Welsh Corgi. I have owned corgis for 50 years and have bred a few litters back in the early 2000's. In 2019 I acquired my first performance corgi, Chantilly Lace ("Tilly"), who is DM clear, and have been doing Obedience, Rally, FastCAT, Tricks, Farm Dog and Scentwork with her as well as showing in the conformation ring. Sweet Dreams was Tilly's first puppy and the mom of this litter. Sweetie is following in her mom's tracks with performance titles in Obedience and Rally and Tricks. As a singleton puppy, Sweetie has shown to be an excellent mom to her five little ones. My dogs and puppies are temperament tested, go to a nursing home/rehab center with a child-care facility most days of the week, and are socialized by the day care children and residents as well as car rides. They are used to various noises common to day care centers and to nursing homes, moving wheelchairs and walkers, and movements of crowds. They live on a 2 acre property that fronts onto a lake and are being raised in my bedroom. I believe in genetic testing for diseases that are common in corgis and have tested my breeding dogs and the puppies they produce. While the national Pembroke Welsh Corgi club only requires testing for hips and congenital eye diseases, I test also for Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), Exercise-Induced Collapse (EIC), Progressive Retinal Atrophy (pra3), and von Willibrand's disease Type I, X-linked Severe Combined Immunodeficiency, and Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD). Sweetie is a carrier for DM from her father's line and can only pass on the trait if she were bred to a sire with DM. Since all my puppies are on a Limited Registration - no breeding - there should be no cause for alarm because neither she nor her puppies should be susceptible to DM. Tilly is clear for all testable diseases but has 2 copies of the IVDD gene which puts her at risk for IVDD. However, 84% of the corgis tested for this disease carry 2 copies (UCDavis -- vgl.ucdavis.edu/test/cddy-cdpa) which is a consequence of selecting for a short-legged dog. If interested in a Pembroke Welsh Corgis from West Lake Corgis please contact me and I will send/email you an application and have you come meet puppies giving all of us a chance to get to know each other. As mentioned earlier, I will be temperment testing the puppies to match the best puppy with the home and the families interested. They will be ready for their forever homes the weekend of 6/19/26. I charge $3,250.00 ($250.00 deposit with the application and the balance in a cashiers checks upon pick up the puppy at 10 weeks of age. The puppies will have Health Check by a Vet at 9 weeks roughly and will be microchipped then. They will come to their forever home with their records, AKC paperwork and some food, toys, blanket, and treats - a Puppy Swag Bag
