About Daisy Mae
Daisy Mae is a beautiful 2-year-old, 35lb spayed female pittie mix who has overcome a difficult start in life. Rescued as part of a police confiscation case for abuse and neglect, she weighed just 18 lbs at six months old. It took months for her to learn that a gentle hand could mean love, not harm. Today, Daisy Mae is a happy, affectionate, and playful girl ready to find a family who will give her the safety and devotion she's always deserved. She has an enthusiastic, playful personality and loves to romp around with other dogs once she's comfortable, though she can be a bit bossy during play and benefits from slow introductions. She has interacted well with dogs from 35-70 lbs and does best with balanced or confident dogs who can handle her enthusiasm. Daisy Mae absolutely adores kids of all ages and is gentle and loving with them. She has a moderate activity level; she enjoys walks, playtime, and exploring, but she also knows how to settle down and relax. She's great on leash, fully house-trained, and crate-trained, sleeping soundly through the night. Because of her past experience with food insecurity, Daisy Mae eats and enjoys treats in her crate to help her feel safe. She may bark at other dogs walking by when she's eating but is happiest when given space for mealtime and a calm environment where she can unwind. Daisy Mae is outgoing, smart, and affectionate; she loves car rides, heavy chew toys, and being near her people. When meeting strangers, she may act shy at first, but she warms up quickly and loves attention once she feels secure. Daisy Mae is the definition of resilience. After everything she's endured, she's blossomed into a loving, loyal companion who still greets every day with joy and trust. She's looking for a home that understands her past, provides gentle structure, and celebrates the happy, goofy, affectionate girl she's become.
Ideal Home
Daisy Mae would do wonderfully as an only pet, but she can also live with another dog if slow introductions are made and the companion is calm and confident. She adores kids of all ages.
Ongoing Health
Daisy Mae has slightly runny eyes, which her foster suspects are due to environmental allergies that flare up during rainy times of the year. This requires no treatment beyond occasional gentle cleaning and awareness of seasonal changes.
