Meet Liberty, or Libby as we affectionately call her! This 6 1/2-year-old, spayed Catahoula Cur mix is a delightful girl, weighing in at a perfect 40 lbs. Libby is a vision in brindle with a precious bobbed tail that wags with joy. She came to us as a stray, sadly underweight and likely abandoned. While she had a brief foster placement, it wasn't the right match. Libby is longing for a quiet, loving home where she can truly be part of the family. She's been a model citizen since returning to us, walking beautifully on a leash and showing no accidents in her kennel, so we're confident she's housebroken. Libby has also shown herself to be great with other dogs, children over 10, and strangers. Her only quirk is that she can be a bit barky at dogs she sees on leash or passing by, though she settles down once introduced. We're unsure how she'd fare with cats. We believe Libby has a strong protective instinct, and with some guidance, she can learn to relax and feel secure without always needing to guard. This is quite common for rescue dogs whose pasts are a mystery to us.
Ideal Home
Libby would thrive in a calm environment, ideally with an older couple or a family with older children. She's a creature of habit who appreciates a peaceful setting and dislikes loud noises or chaos. She’s an old soul who enjoys quiet companionship, leisurely walks, and plenty of naps.
Ongoing Health
Libby came to us as a stray and was underweight. She has since received all necessary veterinary care and is spayed.
Training & Support
Libby needs a family committed to providing proper training to help her understand she doesn't always need to be on guard. She's shown great progress and is well-behaved, but continued positive reinforcement will help her thrive.
