Harry, also known as Houdini, is one of ten adorable puppies who found themselves in need of new homes. Their mother, a scruffy terrier mix, was in a difficult situation, and thankfully, rescue stepped in to ensure these little ones found loving forever families. The father's identity remains a mystery, as he wasn't around to take responsibility. Harry and his siblings arrived in good health, a testament to their devoted mother's care.
DNA testing on one of the pups revealed an exciting mix of breeds, including herding dogs like Australian Cattle Dog, German Shepherd, Miniature American Shepherd, Pembroke Welsh Corgi, and Border Collie, along with a touch of Cane Di Oropa. The rest of his lineage includes Staffordshire Terrier, Rottweiler, Husky, Pit Bull, Japanese Chin, American Eskimo, and Golden Retriever. This "hybrid vigor" means Harry is likely to be a healthy and robust pup! We anticipate he'll be a medium-sized dog when fully grown, but adopters should be prepared to love and cherish him no matter his final size. He's currently getting used to spending 3-4 hours in his crate and is learning to do his business outdoors.
Ideal Home
Harry thrives in a home committed to his early socialization. This means exposing him to a wide variety of new sights and sounds, like vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, as well as meeting people with different appearances and activities. Crucially, he needs ample opportunities to interact with dogs of all shapes, sizes, and temperaments. Simply living with another dog isn't enough; he needs active social engagement. Puppy playdates, trips to pet stores, and enrollment in puppy socialization and obedience classes are highly recommended. A well-exercised dog is a happy dog, so be prepared for plenty of activity!
Ongoing Health
Harry has been vet-checked, vaccinated, and de-wormed. He will require two additional puppy vaccinations and a rabies shot at the adopter's expense. He must be altered by 6 months of age, and this procedure is covered by the adoption fee if performed at the PUP clinic.
Training & Support
Early socialization is key to Harry developing good canine social skills and becoming a well-adjusted member of your household. Commit to providing him with diverse social experiences with both people and other dogs. Puppy socialization classes and obedience training will be invaluable.
