Meet Hatchi!
Hatchi is a soulful young adult Akita/Siberian Husky mix with a majestic tricolor coat and a loyal, tender heart. This 90-pound oversized teddy bear is still adjusting to life with only one working eye due to stabilized glaucoma. While he may see shadows, sudden movements can startle him, especially during walks. He is strong on leash and reactive to dogs, cats, bikes, and cars. Despite his challenges, Hatchi is a sweet, snuggly companion at heart and is eager to please, especially with treats! He responds to his name, is crate trained, house-trained, and has lived harmoniously with children aged 7 and 8. He may do well with a calm, female dog but is not compatible with cats.
Ideal Home
Hatchi thrives with a confident, experienced caregiver who can help him feel grounded and secure. He needs someone comfortable working with large breeds and understands positive reinforcement and patient training. A fenced yard is essential for his safety due to his Husky instincts and curiosity.
Ongoing Health
Hatchi has stabilized glaucoma in one eye and will need to have eye drops administered daily for the rest of his life. He is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped.
Training & Support
Hatchi is strong on leash and reactive to dogs, cats, bikes, and cars, requiring patient training and positive reinforcement. His love of treats makes administering his eye drops manageable. He looks to his human for reassurance, and with the right support, he has the potential to blossom.
