Effie

Meet Effie! This 27-pound wiggle butt is a stocky, short stack of pure sweetness. Believed to be around 12 years old, Effie's exact history is unknown as she arrived as a stray. She came to us with an infected eye that required urgent surgery and ear infections that needed treatment. While she's adjusted well to life with one eye, she may be a little hard of hearing. Despite her past, Effie is a happy girl who loves chasing balls and carrying her squeaky toys. She lights up around people and gets along with other dogs, cats, and kids. Effie politely sits and tippy-taps for pets, never jumps up, and remarkably, never barks – her adorable snorts and snores are her only vocalizations! She can be a bit skittish and startles easily, so a quiet and calm home would be ideal. Effie is ready to steal your heart!

A relatively quiet and calm home where Effie will feel most comfortable and secure.

Ongoing Health

Effie has mammary tumors. While an initial plan for surgery was considered, they have spread and one has ruptured. Given the extent of the tumors and the likelihood of recurrence, an invasive surgery is not being pursued for her quality of life. We do not know how much time she has, but she is currently living life to the fullest. We are seeking a special hospice home that understands her time may be limited and will cherish the moments they have together.

Training & Support

Effie is house-trained and has no history of barking. She is a calm and polite companion.
