Sunflower aka Psych

Sunflower, affectionately known as "Psych," is a vibrant and loving 1-year-old female Pitbull/Lab and Dogo Argentino mix, weighing in at a strong 83 lbs. She came to us as a FAR pup, adopted as a puppy and cherished until a change in circumstances led her back to rescue. Despite a tough transition, she's shown incredible resilience and adaptability, quickly becoming part of her foster family's pack. Her name changed from Sunflower to "Psych" because while she might seem intimidating from afar, she's truly a bundle of joy and happiness up close! Psych thrives on play and affection, making her a wonderfully engaging companion.

Ideal Home

Psych would do best in a home with adults and older children or teens due to her size and strength. She has a lot of energy and a big, booming bark and whine, so a home without noise-sensitive neighbors would be ideal. She also has a limited sense of personal space and enjoys being close to her people, making her the perfect 83lb lap dog for an active family!

Ongoing Health

Psych is up to date on all her vaccines, has been spayed, and is microchipped. She is heartworm negative and on preventatives.

Training & Support

Psych is house-trained and does very well in a crate when indoors, though she spends most of her time in an outside kennel. She responds well to a training collar beep and knows how to "sit" (though she's still figuring out the 'why' behind it!) and is excellent at fetch. She can be a bit wary of new things like large trash cans or inflatable decorations, initially growling or barking, but she is intelligent and perseveres to learn that they are not a threat. She's had a lot of experience with various breeds through her foster home and enjoys playing with other dogs, especially when she can chase them with a ball in her mouth. While she hasn't been observed with cats, testing can be arranged upon request.
