Dinah Dove Gentle Heart is a beautiful Rottweiler/Shepherd mix, approximately a year old and weighing 63 lbs. She has a calming presence that makes you want to slow down and smile. Dinah melts into your touch for affection, and her soft eyes will capture your heart. She is a deeply loving and affectionate dog who forms quiet, meaningful connections. Initially shy in new environments, she quickly reveals her playful and sweet nature once she feels comfortable. She adores gentle affection and belly rubs, and will quietly scoot closer to ask for more when the petting stops. Dinah is sensitive to tone, energy, and movement, blossoming when she is allowed to be herself.
Ideal Home
Dinah would thrive in a calm home with older kids or adults who understand shy dogs and the beauty of building trust slowly. She is not recommended for homes with cats or very small dogs, as busy environments and fast movements can overwhelm her.
Ongoing Health
Dinah is up to date on all vetting, including DAPP with booster, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines. She has also received multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments, flea prevention, and a 12-month injectable heartworm preventative. She has tested negative for heartworm and received a health certificate deeming her healthy for travel.
Training & Support
Dinah has shown appropriate social skills with other dogs once she feels comfortable, though pushy dogs can overwhelm her. She is learning to give fair, controlled corrections and then move on. She would likely do best with respectful, socially savvy dogs, especially calm or playful medium to large dogs. While she may need a little time to settle in, her foster has noted she enjoys rough-and-tumble play once her guard is down.

Dinah is located in the Houston area, Texas. We facilitate adoptions nationwide using our USDA-certified transport system, with drop-off locations in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, and Canada. For Canadian adopters, pick-up is available in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
