Freckles is the sweetest, nicest dog who just loves people and is super snuggly! She's incredibly eager to please and food-driven. Freckles was recently a featured dog for National Dog Day, but is still waiting for her forever home! She can be a bit selective with other dogs, doing best in a home where she can be the only canine companion. She sometimes exhibits bursts of energy, especially when she's receiving attention and loves to play. The vet estimates her age at around 4-5 years old, and she weighs just under 50 lbs. We recommend a home with children 8 and older, due to her size and enthusiastic play style. While she initially chased cats, she now does fine with dog-savvy felines.

Ongoing Health
Freckles is available for adoption with a partially sponsored fee of $100. Her adoption fee includes all vetting up to age, including spay/neuter, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, and vaccinations. If she is under 6 months old, altering and microchipping will occur after she is 6 months old, covered in full at our clinic or partially reimbursed at a vet of your choosing. If she is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule her spay/neuter ASAP, normally within 30 days, at our clinic.
Freckles is also available through our new Forever Foster program. In this program, she can be placed with an approved applicant as a member of their family at no cost. We will cover all her vetting for life, including regular and emergency care, preventatives, and vaccines. Additionally, we'll provide support such as transportation to appointments and "boarding" for vacations, for life. Please ask for more details about this program!
Training & Support
We highly recommend a 2-week shutdown and decompression period for Freckles to help her adjust to her new environment. Housetraining with rescues can be a work in progress, and even if she's 100% in her foster home, an adjustment period should be expected. We offer a $60 rebate for the completion of positive-based training classes. Lifetime support from our rescue is also included with adoption.

Transporation
We are a foster-based rescue, not a shelter, so there is no central location to visit. Most application processing is done virtually. Dog meet-and-greets are by appointment only with approved applicants. Our adoption area is within a several-hour radius of Rochester, NY. Canada is within 3 hours, with the exception that young puppies must be old enough to have received their rabies vaccination (usually around 16 weeks) to cross the border.
