Pops is a 4.5-year-old, 65 lb bundle of joy looking for his forever home! This handsome boy, a mix of Border Collie, Staffy, and Shepherd, is incredibly smart, well-behaved, fun, obedient, energetic, and loyal. He was rescued with his puppies after being found very sick with parvo. While his puppies recovered quickly, Pops had a severe case and required extensive hospitalization. He has since completed a two-month board and train program, where he excelled and truly won over his trainer. He's been living with a dedicated foster who continues to nurture his training and provide him with a loving environment.
Pops has a medium-high energy level. He loves to work, hike, run, play fetch, and zoom around. After a good play session, he enjoys napping, often on his back, on his foster's bed. His favorite way to your heart is through fetch – he'll happily chase any toy and enjoys an extra victory lap before returning it. While he's not a big snuggler, Pops does enjoy pets and belly rubs. He can be a bit wary of strangers, but this is manageable with slow introductions and building his trust. Treats and toys are excellent tools for helping him feel comfortable with new people. Pops loves all kinds of toys, even his plush ones, and enjoys learning new skills. He knows an impressive list of commands, including Sit, Heel, Stay, Free, Ready, Out, Enough, Paw, Place, Get it, Bring it, Leave it, Middle, and Down. He has also socialized well with many dogs and enjoys playful interactions with other pups.
Ideal Home
Pops would thrive in a quiet home with a dedicated person who is looking for a fiercely loyal, smart, and trained companion. Someone who understands that earning his trust is a rewarding journey and can provide consistent mental and physical stimulation will help him be his best self. Structure is very important for Pops. He would do best in a home without cats or young children.
Ongoing Health
Pops is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped.
Training & Support
Pops is highly trained and well-behaved, knowing many commands. He is perfectly house-trained and crate-trained, doing best when he has a chew toy or a stuffed Kong to keep him occupied.
