Meet Laurel! This sweet 2-year-old Collie and Chihuahua mix is a true survivor, weighing in at a petite 20 pounds. Laurel was rescued from a hoarding situation and bravely battled pneumonia and distemper. While she has a permanent head tremor from her distemper, it doesn't slow her down or cause her any pain. She's spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, and is wonderful with other dogs, cats, kids, and all humans!
Ideal Home
Laurel is a homebody who is learning to be more confident in the world. She thrives in calm environments and appreciates familiar routines. While she's getting better every day, crowds and strangers can still be a bit overwhelming for her. She may need to be picked up if things get too busy, and she can be a little nervous around unfamiliar men. She has a habit of barking from the car at strangers she sees outside. Laurel is looking for a patient and gentle adopter who will continue to help her explore the world at her own pace.
Ongoing Health
Laurel is a distemper survivor and experiences a constant head tremor as a result. This is not something that requires medication at this time and is simply a part of who she is.
Training & Support
Laurel is a "pee pad queen" and is very reliable with her indoor potty habits. Outside potty training is still a work in progress, but with patience and consistency, she will get there! She expresses her excitement by jumping a chest-height, a clear sign of her love! Laurel was initially anxious when left alone, but she has grown into an independent lady and can now comfortably spend up to 5 hours on her own. She enjoys snuggling and has claimed a cat bed as her personal throne for naps.
