Gunner from TEXAS

Gunner is a handsome 3-year-old, 50-pound black and tan hound mix who was rescued from a small-town dog pound in Texas. He's a loving boy who enjoys human attention, petting, and playing with toys and other dogs. Gunner is happiest when he's inside, snoozing on the couch in the air conditioning, especially during the hot Texas days. He'll venture out for potty breaks and some playtime with his canine friends but quickly seeks the cool indoors again.

Ideal Home

Gunner would love a home where he can relax indoors and enjoy air conditioning. He's a hound, so he does get excited about squirrels and will bark at people, dogs, and cats he sees outside. He also enjoys a good game of "counter-surfing" with his buddies and has been known to raid the garbage if cabinets aren't secured with a baby lock.

Ongoing Health

Gunner is neutered, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. He has been treated for heartworms and is now heartworm-negative. He is up-to-date on monthly heartworm and flea prevention.

Training & Support

Gunner is crate-trained and comes when called. He walks well on a leash, rides well in a vehicle, and is good with baths. He does need ongoing guidance with his hound-like tendencies, such as barking at passersby and counter-surfing. Securing cabinets with baby locks is recommended to prevent garbage raids.

Transporation

Gunner is currently in Texas. He can be transported after adoption to Hagerstown, MD, or another scheduled stop closest to you, with the cost of ground transport included in his adoption fee.
