About Annie
Annie is a sweet, spunky 3-4 month old Shih Tzu and poodle mix pup that weighs 7 lbs. She is estimated to be around 20 lbs when she is fully grown. Annie is affectionate, loving, and absolutely adores being doted on by her humans. She is curious by nature and is always the first to investigate new toys, noises, and people. Her friendly and social nature makes her the perfect pup for an active family that enjoys having their fur-baby involved in their everyday life. Annie’s laid-back demeanor is perfect for a family that wants a pup that can adapt easily in different environments and enjoys going on fun family adventures. She is always happy no matter what she is doing as long as she's with her humans. Whether it is playing with the other dogs in her foster home, cuddling with her foster mom, or tossing her toys around the yard, Annie is going to have a good time. She is the kind of pup that can be active, playful, and curious when it’s time to have some fun, but also laid back and mellow when it’s time to relax. She's also great about entertaining herself when her foster mom works from home. Annie is a medium-energy dog, with short bursts of puppy energy that are quickly burned with brief exercise and play sessions. Her favorite activities include mental stimulation games with treats, exploring the backyard, and playing with her toys. She loves to play with other dogs and her face lights up when she meets a new furry friend. Annie enjoys running, playing, and exploring, but she also loves spending time with her people and soaking up cuddles.
Ideal Home
Annie would love an active family that enjoys taking walks, exploring new places, spending time outdoors, and including their dog in everyday activities. She would also be equally happy with a family that enjoys cozy evenings at home filled with snuggles and quality time together. As long as she's with the people she loves, Annie is content and ready for whatever the day brings. She would love a home with a fenced yard to run and play in. She would thrive in a home with another playful, friendly dog and some kids to cuddle and play with. She's also the type of dog that can be completely happy being the "only child" and getting all her humans' love and affection to herself too. No public dog parks for Annie. She would love to have fun adventures going on outings around town or going to Sniff Spots for enrichment, playtime, and exercise.
Ongoing Health
Annie is starting to teeth, so her humans will need to keep a watchful eye on her to make sure she doesn't chew on inappropriate items.
Training & Support
Annie is kennel trained and potty trained, and has started on leash training. She sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss and even hangs out in her kennel with the door open to nap throughout the day. She loves to go on outings in her neighborhood as she is carried in her doggy pouch. She will need additional practice to perfect her leash walking skills in her forever home. She is doing well with potty training and will alert her foster family she needs to go outside by circling at the back door. It is recommended to use a doggy door bell by the back door to help her learn how to notify you when she needs to go outside. She does need a consistent schedule and be taken out every few hours initially until she gets on a good routine in a new environment, but she picks up quickly on new schedules and won't take long to adjust. She would love to have a family that is home more often than not because she loves being with her humans, so someone who works a hybrid schedule or works from home is ideal. But she would do well with a dog walker mid-day or going to doggy day care if her humans work out of the home. Annie would probably be too much for a senior dog who isn't used to puppy energy in the home. She can be wiggly when she is excited and picked up, so a small child could drop her if they try to carry her around the home.
