Moonshine is a 3 to 3.5-year-old, 45-55 pound Boxer/Staffordshire Terrier mix who is as bright and spirited as her name suggests. Found wandering the streets and hit by a car, she was thankfully rescued and received immediate veterinary care. Though she sustained injuries to her shoulder and some abrasions, she was incredibly lucky to not have any broken bones. After a brief stay at a local humane society, she came to us for specialized behavior support. Moonshine has since blossomed in foster care, mastering skills like potty training, kennel training, and even treadmill walks. She's working on her loose-leash walking and has shown great improvement in remaining neutral in previously challenging situations. While she may initially bark at new visitors, she warms up quickly and showers them with happy enthusiasm. Moonshine also discovered a love for swimming last summer and her absolute favorite pastime is playing with stuffed plush squeaky toys, especially Lamb Chop!
Ideal Home
Moonshine would do best as the only pet in the home, as she has not been able to work through her reactivity with dogs and cats. She is, however, good with children 16 years and older. She's the perfect blend of energetic and cuddly, ready for a morning hike or a lazy afternoon nap.
Ongoing Health
Moonshine has been vet examined, dewormed, vaccinated for distemper/parvo, bordetella, and rabies. She has also been fecal tested, 4DX tested, microchipped, and spayed. She has a slight shoulder issue from her past injury but no broken bones.
Training & Support
Moonshine is a work in progress and has shown significant improvement in her training. She is muzzle trained with a basket muzzle, which she associates positively and wears comfortably for extended periods. While she is still learning, she has demonstrated great progress on walks and outings.
