Gracie is a sweet, approximately 2.5-year-old Shepherd and Elk Hound mix who came to us as a very fearful dog. Despite her initial challenges, Gracie has made tremendous progress and continues to blossom in her foster home. She loves her canine and feline foster siblings, enjoys leisurely walks, car rides, and the occasional pup cup! Gracie has a kind temperament and is gentle with everyone she meets. She finds comfort and security in her quiet home and car, and relies on her foster family for support when navigating the outside world, which she sometimes finds loud and scary. Gracie is sound-sensitive to things like wind and thunder, but not to everyday noises like a vacuum. She prefers walks in tranquil areas like the woods over busy towns. While she has a crate, she rarely uses it, preferring to sleep on her foster mom's bed or under her desk. Gracie eats well, enjoys snacks, and shows no signs of food aggression. She loves to play with tennis balls and chew on bones.
Ideal Home
Gracie would thrive in a loving, calm, and patient home with humans who understand that some dogs have unique needs. A peaceful environment and a resident canine companion would be very comforting for her. She would benefit from a consistent routine, enjoy car rides, and appreciate quiet evenings on the couch with gentle scratches. Her new family must be mindful of her tendency to bolt if given the opportunity, and prioritize keeping her safe.
Ongoing Health
Gracie is spayed and up to date on all vaccinations.
Training & Support
Gracie is still building confidence in new situations. She is learning to feel secure in her home environment and will need continued patience and understanding as she navigates the world outside. Her foster family has provided a loving and consistent environment, which has been key to her progress.
