Plum

Plum is a 2-year-old, 35lb Aussie x Heeler mix who is bursting with intelligence, drive, and enthusiasm for life! Months in a kennel have taken a toll on her, and what Plum truly needs is a loving home where she can thrive. She loves other dogs, though her play style is very rough-and-tumble and can sometimes be a bit much for more sensitive canine companions. Plum thrives on activity, engagement, and having an outlet for both her physical energy and her busy Heeler brain. The volunteers who have spent time with her believe she is highly trainable and eager to learn, but she needs someone willing to invest the time to teach her what life outside the shelter looks like.

Ideal Home

Plum is looking for an adult-only home or a home with older, dog-savvy teens. She would not be a good fit for cats or other small animals. Plum isn't a "plug-and-play" dog and won't be the right fit for everyone. She needs someone who understands Heelers, sees the brilliance beneath the chaos, and is willing to provide guidance, consistency, and an outlet for her incredible potential.

Ongoing Health

Plum is spayed and heartworm negative.

Training & Support

Like many under-stimulated working breeds in a stressful shelter environment, Plum is struggling with her herding instincts and tendency to nip. She is very smart and highly trainable, but requires consistent guidance and an outlet for her energy and intelligence.
