Josie Ella isn't your typical rescue dog, and that's exactly why someone out there is going to fall for her, hard. Josie is believed to be a pittie mix, approximately 3.5 years old and currently weighs 60 lbs. She is a quiet, observant, and guarded girl who is a slow bloomer, but she's made incredible progress. Josie is a peace-bringer; she makes life feel calmer just by being there. While she might not be a cuddly dog yet, she tolerates affection and enjoys cuddling on your legs. You adopt a dog like Josie because you believe in the quiet magic of trust being earned and find meaning in routine, gentle coexistence, and celebrating small wins like a relaxed body or a soft glance.

A home with at least one other confident, well-adjusted dog is non-negotiable, as other dogs are essential to Josie's confidence.

Training & Support

Josie is highly motivated by food and takes treats very gently. She is excellent with cats, completely ignoring them. She won't initiate play until she trusts, and then it's game on!

Transportation

Josie is currently located in Texas. We facilitate adoptions nationwide using our rescue-run USDA-certified transport system. Transport includes drop-off locations in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI, and Canada. For Canadian adopters, pick-up is in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT. A $87 surcharge applies due to rising transportation costs. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
