Sentry is a 6.5-month-old male Retriever/Pit Bull mix, estimated to be born in January 2026. He currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. Sentry was rescued with his mother, Wanda, and his siblings from a rural area outside of Houston. He's described as happy, affectionate, playful, and endlessly loving, bringing joy wherever he goes. He enjoys cuddles, playing with other dogs, walks, and chasing the water hose. Sentry is potty trained and is growing into a confident and well-rounded dog. He is outgoing, friendly, and eager to make new friends, whether human or canine. He has been raised with his littermates and mother and enjoys playing with other dogs. He has done well around children and was recently at a community event where he received lots of attention from adults and kids. Sentry is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn.
Ideal Home
Sentry is looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building his confidence, and helping him mature into an exceptional adult dog. He would thrive in a home with a resident dog who can help mentor and guide him, teaching him appropriate play, communication, and boundaries. If a home does not have a resident dog, applicants must have a proactive plan for continued socialization, such as structured training classes, regular playdates with trusted dogs, or supervised daycare. Because Sentry is still young, homes where someone is not routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time are preferred, as he will benefit from regular potty breaks, exercise, enrichment, training, and human interaction.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned in the description.
Training & Support
Sentry is potty trained and is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience. He is eager to learn and will benefit from ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice. Continued socialization is very important for his development.
