Pandora is an adorable, approximately 3-month-old Lab/Husky mix with a beautiful cream coat and striking light-colored eyes. She was found as a stray in Manitoba and has since blossomed in our care, filling out to a healthy weight. Pandora is a sturdy, high-energy girl who is smart, loyal, and affectionate. She's already showing great attentiveness and a keen interest in everything you do, making her a potential fantastic family pet. Her gentle, friendly nature, combined with her fun and active spirit, makes her a wonderful mix for a family dog. With proper training and socialization, Pandora will undoubtedly grow into an exceptional companion.
Ideal Home
Pandora needs a home where someone is present throughout the day, as she requires frequent potty breaks and cannot hold it for a full workday. This is not suitable for a high-rise apartment or condo. She would thrive with active, outdoorsy people who enjoy more than just short walks, ideally with a good-sized fenced yard for her to explore. She can be a wonderful companion for a family with children over 6 years old, provided the adults are experienced in managing an excitable puppy with young children, as she is currently going through a nippy/jumpy stage. First-time dog owners without young children could also be a good fit. A home with a neutered, puppy-tolerant male dog would be fine, but she would not be a good fit with a female dog. She can also do well in a home with a cat with proper training and supervision. Stability is key, so adopters should not have upcoming holidays or plans to move shortly after adoption.
Ongoing Health
Pandora is up-to-date on her vaccinations and has been microchipped. She is too young to be spayed/neutered before adoption. Adopters must live within an hour of Cambridge, as she needs to be returned to our vet to be spayed (included in the adoption fee). Adopters will be responsible for her ongoing vaccinations and all other veterinary care.
Training & Support
Pandora is currently working on house training, which is going well. She is very treat-motivated and a quick learner, with excellent recall. She is in the process of learning not to chew on inappropriate items and will need constant supervision. Crate training is highly recommended and encouraged, as it provides a safe den for her. Post-adoption training and socialization are a requirement of our adoption process, and we expect adopters to enroll Pandora in puppy socialization classes immediately and at least Level 1 obedience school.
