Grandpa Douglas

Grandpa Douglas is an 8-year-old hound mix with a distinguished gray muzzle and a smile that seems permanently affixed to his face. Don't let the "Grandpa" in his name fool you, though – he's a bundle of joy and brimming with life! He absolutely adores car rides with his head out the window, leisurely sniffing safaris through tall grass, and, above all else, enthusiastic butt scratches. He's not shy about expressing his joy and will happily "tell" you just how happy he is!

Douglas was rescued from a euthanasia list at a rural Oklahoma shelter, where the dedicated staff fought to give this wonderful old man a second chance. He quickly charmed everyone he met on his first day of freedom, even earning a special bacon-topped pup cup from a kind crew at a Sonic drive-thru!

Ideal Home

Douglas is a social butterfly and gets along wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and strangers. He's also fantastic with teens and children as young as five. He hasn't been tested with younger children.

Ongoing Health

Douglas is currently heartworm positive. He is in foster care in Tulsa, OK, and will be ready for his forever home once he has completed his heartworm treatment.

Training & Support

He is crate trained and travels like a true gentleman in the car.

Grandpa Douglas is currently in foster in Tulsa, OK. He can be transported to approved adopters anywhere in the country once he has been cleared of heartworms.
