About Annie

Annie is a sweet, spunky Shih Tzu and poodle mix who is about 3-4 months old and currently weighs 7 lbs. She's expected to reach around 20 lbs when fully grown. Annie is affectionate and loves to be doted on. She's a curious and confident pup who enjoys exploring new things and meeting new people and furry friends. Her social nature makes her a great companion for an active family that likes to include their dog in everyday life. Annie has a laid-back demeanor, making her adaptable to different environments and perfect for family adventures. She's happy as long as she's with her humans, whether playing with other dogs, cuddling, or playing with her toys. Annie has a good balance of playful energy and chill vibes, happy to run and play, but also content to lounge on the couch. She's also good at entertaining herself.

Ideal Home

Annie would thrive in an active home that enjoys walks, outdoor activities, and including their dog in daily life. She'd also be happy in a home that enjoys cozy evenings with plenty of snuggles. A fenced yard would be ideal for her to run and play in. She would love a home with another playful, friendly dog and children to play with and cuddle. She'd also be content as the "only child" if she receives plenty of love and attention. She would love to go on outings around town or to Sniff Spots for enrichment. Her ideal human works from home or has a hybrid schedule, but if not, a dog sitter or daycare is recommended for longer days, as she cannot go more than 8 hours without playtime and potty breaks. No public dog parks for this girl.

Ongoing Health

Annie is up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. She has received a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian and any necessary vet care while in rescue. She is starting to teeth, so her new family will need to ensure she doesn't chew on inappropriate items.

Training & Support

Annie is kennel trained and potty trained. She sleeps in her kennel at night and naps in it during the day with the door open. She alerts her foster family when she needs to go outside by circling at the back door. It's recommended to use a doggy doorbell to help her learn to notify you when she needs to go out. She needs a consistent schedule and to be taken out every few hours initially until she adjusts to a new environment. She is starting leash training and will need additional practice to perfect her skills. She is dog, cat, and kid-friendly. While she loves playing with other dogs and has learned proper doggy communication skills, she might be too much for a senior dog not used to puppy energy. She would do well with kids of all ages, but older children experienced with smaller breeds who know how to handle her carefully are recommended, as she can be wiggly when excited and picked up. She is friendly towards cats, especially those comfortable around dogs and who have lived with dogs before.
