Princess is a four-year-old spayed female terrier pit bull mix with a heart full of love and energy to share! She was adopted from a high-kill shelter but returned because she was simply too energetic and happy – a trait that sadly put her at risk. Thankfully, she's now safe and settling into her foster home, showing that with love and understanding, she's a wonderful companion. Princess enjoys car rides, squeaky toys, and playing fetch with tennis balls. She's also a smart girl who knows her commands, though she can get a bit overexcited and jump up for attention. With a gentle reminder and a cue to "sit," she quickly calms down to receive pets. She's a creative chewer, so providing her with appropriate toys like Kongs and bully sticks is key to keeping her happy and her belongings safe, much like you would for a puppy. She'll also let you know when she needs to go out or wants some affection with a friendly bark.
Ideal Home
Princess would thrive in an active home with older children who can match her playful spirit. An active couple or a single person who enjoys outdoor activities would also be a great fit. She absolutely needs a fenced yard to safely explore and burn off energy, as she is not off-leash trained without one. While she can be the only dog, she would also do well with a canine friend who has a similar energy level and enjoys playtime. Due to her zest for life, she is not suited for apartment living or homes with very small animals where her exuberance might be overwhelming.
Ongoing Health
Princess is up to date on all her vaccinations, is heartworm negative, and is on monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
Training & Support
Princess is crate-trained and house-trained. She knows basic commands like sit, come, stay, and off. She's also learning to heel for leash walking. She understands that sitting leads to petting and responds well to corrections. Because she's an avid chewer, providing her with a variety of chew toys is essential for her happiness and to prevent her from chewing on inappropriate items. She also barks to communicate her needs, whether it's to go outside or for attention.
